VATECH America staff, from left to right: Mr. Scott Jovich (District Sales Manager-West Coast), Ms. Esther Lee (Marketing Manager),
Mr. Joseph Erbaugh (District Sales Manager-West Coast), Mr. Lennart Elgaard (Education Team-Eastern Region),
Ms. June Chang (Marketing Team), Mr. Louis DeFilippo (Regional Sales Director-Eastern Region), Mr. Mark Nguyen (Regional Sales Director-Western Region), & Mr. Sumin Park (General Manager-Western Division)

A Challenging Period for X-ray Equipment

Currently, the US market for dental x-ray equipment is said to be in a very challenging period due to intense competition. So far, VATECH America has 38 dedicated staff, all of whom are working together to deal with the challenges. VATECH America was founded in November 2006. Recently, VATECH America was reorganized and set to gear up and break into the U.S. market. With this development in the company, comes the appointment of a new President, last May 2012, in the person of Mr. Bryan Hwang.

Sincerity in Leadership

Mr. Bryan Hwang, the President of VATECH America adapts a 'Human-oriented' personnel policy. He said care and communication are the secrets of teamwork. Beyond the barriers of language and nationalities, everyone in VATECH America is united as a family unit.  "Though we are nations apart, the entire staff of VATECH America and of the rest of VATECH subsidiaries, are all part of one big VATECH Networks family. Let us work together for the achievement of our goal to attain growth in VATECH." said Mr. Hwang.

VATECH Equipment is the best I have encountered!

Mr. Theodore Ryo of VATECH America marketing department spoke of pleasant episodes while enforcing their customer support services. For about 2 months, from last July until the end of August, he teamed-up with engineers from VATECH HQ (Korea), who came over and performed customer support services around Southern Florida, Texas, and Louisiana. In the US, diversity from state to state exists. When visiting an area for the first time, these diversities in culture and ways give a bit of worry or anxiety to Korean engineers, who are used to a homogeneous society in Korea. But, the moment you hear the customer say, "So far, Vatech equipment impressively takes better images than any of the equipment from other manufacturers that I've tried." all of the moments' worries and anxieties disappear. Praises like this, that comes directly from customers makes us feel proud of the VATECH brand.

What our VATECH America Executives have to say:

"Vatech America has faced several different challenges over the last 5 years since I have joined the company and each management team had different approaches to handle the unique challenges, from establishing Vatech/Ewoo in North America, creating a sales/support team to sell direct to the customers, then transitioning to a mix model of dealer network and direct sales, and now purely distribution through our dealer partners.
From the last several months of working with Mr. Hwang, I can see in his passion and his actions, he has an understanding of what is needed to lead Vatech America to the next phase. Becoming the number 1 dental imaging company in North America."

~  Mr. Mark Nguyen, Director of Sales - Western USA

"With our recent management change at Vatech America, we now have strong leadership that understands Vatech as a global manufacturing powerhouse. Innovative promotions and a unique client-first approach has the American market taking notice. I am proud to be a part of a team that has the opportunity to change the imaging game in the US.

    -  Mr. Lou DeFilippo, Director of Sales - Eastern USA

Rayence showcases new Digital X-ray Detectors in RSNA 2012

Rayence Co., Ltd., (CEO: Mr. James Hyun), a specialized manufacturer of X-ray detectors, participates in the RSNA 2012 (Radiological Society of North America) exhibition in Chicago from November 25 to November 30, 2012.   Rayence showcases its Xmaru Flat panel detector products that boost diagnostic accuracy and price competitiveness.  Rayence is also unveiling Xmaru 1717SGC fixed detector, a 17 X 17-inch gadolinium digital flat panel detector that fits existing cassette trays without retrofitting. It uses a trigger technology that eliminates the need to integrate into an x-ray generator.

Last day to catch the Flat Panel X-ray Detectors of Rayence at #RSNA12 at booth 442 Hall D Lakeside Center

The new panels are designed to easily upgrade both film and CR (Computed Radiography) cassette equipment to DR (Digital Radiography) equipment, and exposure dose has also been greatly minimized by reducing image acquisition time by 2 seconds through increasing sensitivity in image data processing. The emerging core component of these Detectors is the capability to convert analog to digital image information.

More so, Humanray, a specialized CMOS sensor company, have merged with Rayence in October of this year.  Both of which are subsidiary companies of VATECH. With this merger, Rayence has become the only company in the world that can provide both TFT and CMOS based detectors.  Offering a large line-up of products and sizes, Rayence’ TFT and CMOS detectors can satisfy a wide array of customer needs. So for RSNA exhibition, Rayence also showcases its CMOS-based detectors in addition to the TFT detectors. A TFT imaging method is widely used for acquiring an image of a larger target area, while a CMOS method takes advantage of high resolution diagnostic image acquisition through its low noise, no image lag, and high-speed imaging technology.

Mr. James Hyun, the CEO of Rayence believes that”Rayence is the only company in the world with the development capacity to offer a full line up of TFT and CMOS detectors at highly competitive prices.” He has also stated that, “RSNA 2012 will be the podium for aggressive international sales growth in North America, Europe, Asia, and other parts of the world."

Korea's Health and Welfare Committee visited VATECH

The National Assembly of the Republic of Korea sets aside a certain period of time each year to audit the administration, budgets, and policies of government ministries, agencies and organizations, in addition to its regular inspection of state affairs. This system has strengthened the role of the parliament as a watchdog for the government. The National Assembly has come to play a substantial role in setting the directions for national policies and overseeing the executive branch.  This year, the national inspection lasted for 20 days, from October 5 to 24, 2012.

As part of this audit, legislators from the Health and Welfare Committee of The National Assembly of the Republic of Korea visited VATECH Co., Ltd. last October 11, 2012. This is the first time for VATECH to be visited by the Committee, who conducted inspection on the company's dental imaging devices. VATECH was chosen as representative of the medical/healthcare business sector, for which the health and welfare committee had intended to listen and act upon the difficulties faced, as well as to take in suggestions from this aforementioned business sector.

The visiting Lawmakers was spearheaded by Mr. Yoo Jejung along with  Mr. Yang SeongJo, Mr. Ryu JiYoung, Mrs. Min HyeonJu, Mr. Choi DongIk, Mrs. Kim MinHee, together with officials from the Ministry of Health & Welfare and the Food and Drug Administration.

About a dozen visiting health and welfare legislators were graciously welcomed by Mr. Stan Oh, CEO of VATECH Co., Ltd., along with the company executives like Executive Director Park JaeYoon, Director Jang SangYoung, and Director Kim SeongHo.

Prior to the start of the meeting, Mr. Stan Oh (2nd from left), CEO of VATECH, invited the honorable guests to a short coffee/tea break  at the V-Gallery, a coffee shop operated by VATECH's subsidiary VATECH S&C Co., Ltd.

The meeting started at 2:00pm at the Reception Hall A of VATECH Networks head office building in Hwaseong City. Mr. Stan Oh (오세홍 사장), the President/CEO of VATECH Co., Ltd. commenced the meeting with a brief welcome remarks followed by a detailed company introduction. The company conveyed to the government's attention the need for development policies and aggressive R&D investment in medium-sized medical device business enterprise sector, for which growth contribute to job creation and import substitution.

After the meeting, the visitors were briefed about the facilities and the headquarter premises of the companies under the VATECH Networks; and were then guided to a factory tour to see the manufacturing processes in VATECH and Rayence.

In the VATECH factory tour, the visitors were asked to wear disposable overshoes as anti-static protection and as a safeguard in order to ensure production of zero-defect products.

The visitors watched with curiosity as a real skull phantom was placed in the shielded X-ray room for an image quality testing of a dental imaging system of VATECH.

Image optimization process

The visiting party were then guided to the sensor manufacturing facility of Rayence Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of VATECH.

Unlike the tour in VATECH manufacturing area, the Rayence tour was somewhat different as visitors were only able see the manufacturing processes through the glass window outside of the manufacturing facility.

Why is this so?  Rayence, being a manufacturer of CMOS sensors and TFT large area detectors, keeps a clean room system which ensures that dust and other tiny particles won't hamper with the sensitive production of these imaging sensors and detectors.

At the end of the tour, the visitors marveled at the technology and at how these domestic medical devices manufacturing company have turned out to be doing big business.

Overall, the Health & Welfare Committee's visit to VATECH was a successful endeavor.
